License plate recognition

Classic license plate recognition is used successfully in a wide variety of applications.
However, vehicle license plates are personal data whose processing is subject to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Vehicle identification

However, the vehicle identification process we have developed (patent pending) can be used for a wide variety of applications without generating personal data. As soon as test centers are accredited according to § 42 GDPR, we will apply for certification.

As an operator and user of this new technology, you are thus on the safe side in terms of data protection law.

Classic license plate recognition

Images from a video camera are the input for a function called OCR. This converts a graphic into characters that are processed further digitally.

Disadvantage:

The identifier exists as personal data, even if it is subsequently pseudonymized.

Therefore, this procedure is subject to the GDPR.

Innovative vehicle identification

An optical sensor generates a vector from a pixel matrix that identifies the vehicle. This vector is further processed digitally.

Advantage:

The vehicle becomes identifiable via the vector, without personal data.

The processing is therefore completely anonymized.
